Decentralized Energy

Senegal - Rural Power

Rural electrification using a pyrolysis plant which produces electrical energy for 1.000 households out of peanut shell pellets. A constant, reliable electricity supply is ensured by a battery storage and underground grid.

Special feature: The integration of a small industrial zone, to use the electricity in a way which creates added value locally.

Senegal - Rice Mill

A rice mill in Senegal uses rice husk to power their milling machines.

This is a good example of how it is possible to produce electricity from waste streams.

Other Installations

In various other countries like Benin, Burkina Faso or the Ivory Coast, Novis has also installed plants and trained local technicians. The picture shows a demonstration plant in Benin which illustrates the simplicity of the systems.
