Stoffströme und Umwelteffekte

Our ultimate goal in all our projects is to develop and provide solutions for a sustainable economy. New production processes and products must not only be economically viable, but also make a positive ecological contribution in the spirit of the bioeconomic circular economy.

To demonstrate that we truly live up to this claim, we must evaluate the environmental impacts of our work and avoid carbon displacement. This has also led to projects in which our focus is purely on assessing and optimizing the ecological footprint of products or processes.

Sustainability in the healthcare sector

As part of the SustainMed consortium, Novis is working on ways to reduce the ecological footprint of our healthcare system. The focus of this project is on medical devices, which are consumed in large quantities in everyday hospital life. The healthcare sector faces a difficult balancing act between the well-being and safety of patients and employees, cost pressure, and time and staff shortages. The need to develop this sector in line with German and European climate targets is now making things even more difficult. We advise and support our consortium on optimization potential in consumption and product selection to reduce the BG Clinic's ecological footprint. Further projects with this consortium and medical device manufacturers are already being planned.

Compostable diapers made from renewable raw materials

Together with partners from Germany, Slovakia, and Israel, a diaper made from renewable raw materials is being developed that is intended to be fully compostable. Novis is responsible for sustainability consulting, using life cycle assessment methodology to support product development and enable compostability not only in theory but also in the practical context of the waste disposal industry in Europe.
