We generate new value from CO2 and residual materials using bio-based technologies.
We build biogas plants for difficult-to-ferment substrates and have further developed our expertise in the waste hierarchy:
Recycling of waste streams and CO2 emissions from plant operations
Upcycling of digestate and other residual materials
Reducing environmental impacts through material flow balancing and optimizing production processes.
Carbon Capture and Use - CCU
Novis develops and builds CO₂ plants in the field of carbon capture and use, contributing to a climate-friendly economy. Emitted CO₂ from point sources (exhaust gas stacks) is captured, purified, concentrated, and liquefied for subsequent use in other processes, such as microalgae cultivation. Novis is working on plants for industrial and agricultural applications.
Biopolymers
Novis has an innovative (and patented) approach to cultivating microorganisms. They produce biopolymers from CO₂ from industrial or agricultural sources. The core of the invention is innovative photobioreactors, into which we introduce light using sophisticated technology.
We always consider our processes and products in the spirit of the circular economy and are therefore also working on methods for the material recycling of biopolymers.
Material flows and environmental effects
Our ultimate goal in all our projects is to find solutions for a sustainable economy. These must be developed and delivered industrially. New production processes and products must be economically viable and make a positive ecological contribution in the spirit of the bioeconomic circular economy.
To meet this goal, the environmental impacts of our work must be assessed and shifts in energy consumption must be avoided. This has led to the development of services for assessing and optimizing the ecological footprint of products and processes.
Biogas plants
Our traditional expertise stems from the construction of biogas plants for special substrates. These fully automated renewable energy plants are designed and built to customer specifications. The feedstocks range from slaughterhouse waste, landscape maintenance material, agricultural by-products, animal excrement, and even traditional silage.
Recycling of material flows - contract research
When the first biogas plants lost their EEG subsidies, we set about developing new value chains for operators. Various research projects developed methods for processing fiber-rich waste from agriculture and manufacturing and transferring it into a circular economy.
